Stone Teapot Exhibition- Liao Tian Zhao

About the artist
Liao tain Zhao is the founder of the art of creating stone carved teapots which he began 40 years ago in Taiwan. He is fastidious in the modeling of each teapot which have sense of aestheticism and practicality in that they cana lso be used for making tea. During the past 30 years he has created more than one thousand teapots; each one a different size and unique shape.

Recently he has changed to creating different styles of carving but continues to use stone as the medium. For Liao Tian Zhao stone evokes a special emotion within him. He says that life is very short for the stone, because it comes from nature, will last forever and in this way he can record his life in something solid and tangible; retaining the beauty of nature and integrate his own creative ideas.

The gunpowder artist Chi Guo Qiang

I read the article about the famous gunpowder artist Cai Guo Qiang recently, and this make me more realized the meaning of creative art, and his work is so amazing, stronger, and elegant that I can not forget. He is one of mine favorites artist who used the gunpowder to create the series of compositions, also some of work which has combined with the western art, such as the oil paint.

In my point of view, the artist works harder to tried to focuses on studied the difference of gunpowder to make simple experiences on papers and canvases. And he learned to measure the fan properly to blow the wet paint, and so on.

The artist used to contribution his art can be served for socialism and revolutionary politics, however, he give up the ideology of traditional culture, then uses his own subjective idea. Also he creates the new , fresh, even dangerous art which represents the astonishing vision effect by using the gunpowder.

Furthermore, his art can described like media shower, and it represented the surprising, aesthetic, and mysterious feeling that impress me a lot. For instance, the “Project for Extraterrestrial” which he made series of work and were the most biggest project that made around the world wide. The artist believes the relationship between human and universe, then he used the “explosion” to communicate his art work can approach to the universe if sequences of explosions. Besides, the context of these work which reflection our earth problems , such as population, pollution, also he used his work to remind people to more concern our earth.

Moreover, in his famous work “Cultural Melting Bath- project for the 20th century” it was the well-known installation work that replaced by 18 of Tai Hu rocks from China, a big bathtub, and a root which was hang on the ceiling. The interesting was viewer can really have hot bath in the installation art work.

However, it is really fresh and new in artist work, as I see his work has becoming better and better that showing the new processes and new creations by using the gunpowder, and challenging to use the dangerous elements to make the compositions.

The Idea about Eldon Booth Video Work

In my opinion, Eldon Booth is an apprentice and a video technician who did a lot of moving image works, such as experimental video shot, practice works, and the documentary video shot.

First, to review his work I like one of his film called “5 Good Reasons,” because the composition is really great and the characters were playing the important roles, and the point is their conversation and we can conscious about so many meaning in this film. There were two characters in this film, one is psychologist and another person presented the patient, both they were told about the death, disorder in the street, diseases, and some of themselves problems. In the beginning of the film until the end of the film, I saw a lot of film technical which he made in every scene, for example, the montage was the most shown on the scenes, when the patient described one topic about the death, the scene changed into another screen about the figure which showed in the hospital and there was no one in the ward, also the screen presented the black and white scene, this obviously to show the death atmosphere in the empty space.

Secondly, I like the movie which he made “Withdrawal,” this looks like the documentary movie and shows the real-life about the grandfather and grandson. The movie was separated into two screens, so we can clearly to see what is the difference between grandfather and grandson their livelihood. I was surprised that two relatives presented opposite life, the grandfather need the drugs to keep his live, but the grandson just wanted to take drugs made him high. However, two characters showed part of their life very thoroughly and vividly.

Overall, Eldon Booth presented the great technical about his experimental video work and the great subject matter, and body of work. Therefore, after watched his work I felt more understood about his wonderful interpretation of video work, also more realized what does his personality is and personal ideas.

The Photograph which Related to the Nature and Culture- Richard Orjis

After Richard Orjis presentation, I am so surprised that he did a lot of experimental photo shot and the series of work for magazine cover, the big project for business and advertisements. Also I like his technical of photo shot, and furthermore he extends and develops his working process into the high quality and professional level. Besides, his drawing skill is very well, then he brought his drawings into the photography and created the new series of compositions, such as “Memento Mori” which was made by wallpaper, artworks and reminders of mortality, however, those works were look like the collage compositions.

Furthermore, I like his some of work which related to the nature culture society. For example, in one of an exhibition that every photo shot people with the dirt faces, and some of people have wore the difference of floral loops and the work called “A place in the dirt” and “Floros.” When I saw these photographs I felt placid and peaceful, because to look through the whole composition it is like the sanctity religion which is sublime and cannot be inviolable. Also the “dirt” and “floral loops” might be some of tribe cultural symbolism that could protect themselves and could not be harm.

Moreover, I like one of his photo called “Paternal” the photo shot which related to the nature and the cultural notion, a baby was setting on her father’s neck, then Richard said the meaning behind this photograph is the power of the child. Also I thought child is the most important gift who will influence the nature rule and the culture society, such as a child birth can influence the world population. However, this rule is still circulation and did not stop.

In conclusion, Richard Orjis’s work had presented the great technical about using photoshop to change the layer of photographs, he also shows the great skill about shooting the photographs. Besides, he shows the well progress and development in his work which related to the concept of culture and nature.

The Experience and Practicing on Moving Image- Rabecca Hobbs

My first impression about Rabecca Hobbs work is the photograph which she took for experimental study, she has seek around many countries and found a lot of researches about the practice. Besides, she used some of the references to create own practicing photographs and used different range of techniques to take photo shoot. For example, I like her series of work about “To Do,” these photos presented the one shoot movement, such as open, rest, jump, and so on. Also she used different materials and media to create the funny, exciting, and humor images.

On the other hand in her work of films, she makes a lot of funny and artistic short films, also most of detail was showing the film technical, such as one of her practice the “Monkey Riding the Bike,” and the dolly shoot practice. No matter the sound effect and the visual techniques, she presented the strong moving images on each of films.

Furthermore, to look through all of her compositions she was focusing on the cinema, music, and images. She represented the series details about the working processes and very good development to showing her own project. And she was an organized person who read many reference book and done a lot of researches which related of her project, like she mentions “ pathway” is important as research.

Overall, Rabecca Hobbs is a creative moving image artist, talent photographer, and the great film director who had self- experiences and creative ideas. However, she shows brilliant body works and the strong compositions.

What is the Value of Art? And What About the Presentation, Viewing and Reception of Art?

In my opinion, to overview the video of an apprentice and the following questions, I think two teams are playing the important roles and some of people have to contact and discuss with the photographers, then the other people have to arrange an exhibition and the best place for selling a lot of different content of photographs. But the one thing is showing both their team work, and each person has to showing their a great ability of soling people’s thing.

First, before to sale the art we should think about what is the art value for the viewers, the most people are think can make the money, but I think the important thing is the meaning and the message which come from the composition, and the people’s feeling when they see the art work. Besides, the viewers are with different perceptions of the art value.

Next, I think the presentation, viewing and reception of art is more important, too, the best way is the great communication and analyzing the definition of the art work, also the receptionist need more confidence to built up the relationship with the audiences whom visit an exhibition and gallery. For example, two teams are motivated to hold an exhibition, and manage one thing just two day. However, I am so surprised that the time is so rush, but they can use the short period to finish an event.

Overall, this video has telling us the competition between two teams of sale the photos from the photographers, and this is the great video which showing the team work, the personal selling experiences, the well ability and an enthusiastic services for people.

Dealing with Ideas Working in The Public

In Dion Hitchens presentation he talk a lot of how does he present and display the compositions on the public, such as galleries, coffee shop, public area, garden, and any stores, or shops. In my opinion, dealing with ideas working in the public is not a easy thing, this might be went through some processes and identifications, so the artist can show the work in the public, and this will take a lot of time to hold an exhibition in the public.

Furthermore, Dion mentions four important self-manufacture must be notice, for example, except the public space the other is competition for proposal, commission, and building contracts. The most important thing is building contracts, because when we want to display the work in the public, this motivate should be worked for the client and some of company, and we have to deal with the budget, some public response, vandalism, the durability, and some of consequences from public associations. Besides, building contract can build up the relationship between us and the client, this is the important process that we must to identification.

Next, in most of Dion publication work he create a lot of large objects, such as one of his public work called “Manukau City Square,” he collaboration with local artist Charels Koroneho to finish this sculpture. And the other sculpture work which called “Private Commission, Dunedin,” this is one of my favorite composition that Dion has combined with different medias like he use kind of white wire to make different human figures and body shapes, also the interesting thing is he work with family names on each objects. Therefore, the “Private” has been showed in the public gallery, when I see the photograph from the slideshow, the subject matter showed the different visual effect and become more attractive.

In conclusion, Dion Hitchens shows his ability and a lot of working experiences in the public, no matter the social architect and the drawing technology he always present his work very well for public place.
